Byron Bay Buggy Tours
Experience the open top thrill of beach buggy cruising. Some say it's like being on a roller-coaster, others say it's like riding a huge go-cart, however you look at it, you are iin for a major fun ride.
The buggy has a strengthened chassis and solid rollcage for your safety. We have four different tours available giving great scenery and local knowledge of the beautiful Byron Bay area.
Surfing/Swimming & Other Water Sports
Best surfing is off the point - it has been rated as one of the best right-hand point breaks anywhere on Earth. The point break is one of longest and biggest warm water breaks in Australia.
Surf skis, catamarans and windsurfers are hirable from the eastern shore of Lake Ainsworth. The protected waters of the lake are an excellent spot for sailboarding beginners. The reef off the southern end of Seven Mile Beach, just north of Lennox Headland is known as the Moat. The Moat is an excellent snorkelling spot. The area provides a good opportunity to view tropical fish, crustaceans and shellfish as they shelter from the prevailing swells.
Fishing
Anglers can wade out from the southern end of Seven Mile Beach across the reef of exposed black rock to fish for bream, mackerel, snapper and the occassional big jewfish. For the more adventurous (or foolhardy) there is a spot just south of Lennox, near shag rock, known as 'The Spike'. Some people have lost their lives fishing from these rocks and others have been known to rope themselves to a metal pole thoughtfully driven into the rocks as a safety measure for anchoring anglers when a freak wave breaks across the exposed rock ledge. In the right conditions, boats can be launched from the southern end of Seven Mile Beach through a break in the reef known as 'The Moat'. With a boat it is possible to go outside and fish the pinnacle reef located just off the Point.
Whale & Dolphin Watching
Whales can be easily seen from the Pat Morton Lookout on Lennox Headland. There is a walking track that leads east along the headland to one or two other prime viewing positions. Whales pass by Lennox Headland in June/July on their annual pilgrimage to warmer waters and then they pass again heading south during September/October. Dolphins can be spotted 'fishing' along the beach about 15 metres off the shore on most mornings.
